We are pleased to announce our participation in both the Main and the Tomorrows/Today sections at Investec Cape Town Art Fair. The fair will run from 16 February - 18 February  2024. In the Main section Bode will present a booth with artists Layo Bright, Elizabet Cerviño, Muofhe Manavhela, Anoushka Mirchandani and Tariku Shiferaw. You can visit us at booth B5.
 

Layo Bright (b. 1991 in Lagos, NG) received her LL.B from Babcock University (2014), and her MFA in Fine Art from the Parsons School of Design (2018). Bright’s works have been featured in several solo and duo exhibitions at Monique Meloche Gallery, Chicago, IL, US; Flux Factory, Long Island City, NY, US, and AWCA, Lagos, NG. The artist participated at numerous group exhibitions, including at Halsey McKay Gallery, New York, NY, US; Museum of Glass, Tacoma, WA, US, PM/AM Gallery, London, UK; Johnson Lowe Gallery, Atlanta, GA, US; Lubeznik Center for the Arts, IN, US, Sean Kelly Gallery, New York, NY, US; Bode, Berlin, DE; Welancora Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, US; Alliance Française - Mike Adenuga Centre, Lagos, NG; Anthony Gallery, IL, US, among others. The artist completed an art residency at Museum of Glas, Tacoma, WA, US; UrbanGlass, Brooklyn, NY, US; Tyler Glass Program, Philadelphia, PA, US; NXTHVN, New Haven, CT, US and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Ron Desmett Award (2023), UrbanGlass Winter Scholarship Award (2021, 2020), the International Sculpture Center’s Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award (2018); and the Beyoncé Formation Finalist Scholarship (2017). Layo Bright lives and works in New York, NY, US.

 

Elizabeth Cerviño (b. 1986 in Manzanillo, CU) graduated from the Higher Institute of Art of Havana, CU; and received recognitions by The Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Cuban Arts Fundation. Cerviño had solo exhibitions at Bode, Berlin, DE; Chasquidos, Pabellón Cuba, Havana, CU; Mónadas, Galleria Continua, San Gimignano, IT; Pausa, La Columnata, Callao, PE; among others. Her work has been part of collective exhibitions at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana, CU; Pérez Art Museum, Miami, FL, US; Kunsthalle Rostock, Rostock, DE; Cranbrook Museum, Bloomfiel Hills, Detroit, MI, US; Galleria Continua Les Moulins, Boissy-le-Châtel, FR; Galleria Continua, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Dubai, AE; Galleria Continua, Paris, FR; Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, Havana, CU; Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura, Havana, CU; Norwegian Embassy in Cuba; Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation, New York, NY, US; Green Gallery, Dubai, AE; Goodman Gallery, Cape Town, ZA; Goodman Gallery, London, UK; Bienal del Bioceno, Cuenca, EC; El Espacio 23, Miami, FL, US; among others. She was finalist of the International Cuban Art Award, Young Artist of the Year Category, Farber Foundation (2015) and was nominated for the 2nd Edition of the Maretti Award (2014). Elizabet Cerviño lives and works between Havana, CU and Tampa, FL, US.

 

Muofhe Manavhela (b. 2000, Limpopo, ZA) is a young self-taught artist. Manavhela’s work has been shown at a solo exhibition at Bubblegum Gallery, Johannesburg, ZA. The artist has participated at multiple group shows at Bode, Berlin, DE; Affinity Art Gallery, Lagos, NG; Eclectica Contemporary, Cape Town, ZA; HOFA Gallery (House of Fine Art), Accra, GH; African Artists Foundation, Lagos, NG; and ADA, Accra, GH, among others. The artist has presented her works with Kalashnikovv Gallery at African Galleries Now, Johannesburg, ZA; and with Bubblegum Club at FNB Art Joburg, Johannesburg, ZA. Muofhe Manavhela lives and works in Johannesburg, ZA. 

 

Anoushka Mirchandani (b. 1988, Pune, IN) received his BFA from Denison University, Granville, OH, US. Besides she graduated from City College San Francisco, CA, US and Aegean Center for the Fine Arts, Paros, GR. Mirchandani’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Galerie ISA, Mumbai, IN; UTA Artist Space, Los Angeles, CA, US; Rhodes Contemporary Arts, London, UK, and Glass Rice Gallery, San Francisco, CA, US. Anoushka Mirchandani lives and works in San Francisco, CA, US.

 

Tariku Shiferaw (b. 1983, Addis Ababa, ET) received his BFA from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, US; and MFA from Parsons School of Design, New York, NY, US. Shiferaw’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Galerie Lelong & Co., New York, NY, US; Southampton African American Museum, Southampton, NY, US; Cathouse Proper, Brooklyn, NY, US; Addis Fine Art, London, UK, and Anthony Philip Fine Art, Brooklyn, NY, US.
